The Hostage Launch \^_^/


Alrighty, so, by some sort of miracle, I've managed to finish and release The Hostage :3 

In many ways, I have essentially failed O2A2 jam because I was originally going to make a slightly modified director's cut version after the jam was over, but I finished the O2A2 version early and happened across Major Jam, so wound up working on and finishing the director's cut version in time for the end of both jams, which means I worked myself half to death like an idiot x3 It seems I am incapable of actually working casually for a jam. It's always all or nothing T_T 

It's been a blast, but also a minor nightmare, haha. I'll go into all that a little more when I get a chance to type up a postmortem post! The main thing though is finding out that the family potato laptop could barely run the game because of the video sprites xD So I made an emergency potato version where all the video sprites & backgrounds have been replaced with pngs instead. Now the potato is content, so with any luck, it should be able to run on anything x3

As a side note to that, apologies to any Linux players out there, but you can only play a potato version with the pngs >.< I did try to make a version for Linux that still had the video sprites and backgrounds, but Unity wasn't having any of it. I knew that the mp4s in the other versions wouldn't work on Linux, but Unity suggested using WebM or OGV video files instead, both of which I tried, and both builds failed for some reason that I couldn't figure out. Hopefully, the versions that did export successfully at least work :3

Anyways, I'm gonna go get myself some food and then have a nice long sleep! If you decide to check out the game, I hope you have as much fun playing it as I did making it :D
