Hello! Wanted to say I really enjoyed your game! I keep coming back to it just for the tasty jams! Was just wondering if you had lyrics to some of the songs (Like D&D- Hide and Seek version)? I know they're kinda just small snippets, but was curious since I'm a bit hearing impaired and don't really catch most of the words.

Hey hey! Thanks so much for playing + taking the time to drop by and leave such a nice comment :3 <3

It means a hell of a lot to me that you would come back to it at all, but even more that you enjoy the soundtrack cos I love making music soooo much ^-^

The OST for this remains one of my favourites to have worked on even though it's pretty short and mainly consists of various remixes of one core track, haha.

Anyways, I can totally post the lyrics here :3

I can't really take any credit for the lyrics themselves since they're technically vocal samples from vocal sample packs that I own x3 But I do sift through my collection to find lyrics that feel as though they fit the tracks I'm trying to make or purposely buy specific packs for certain lyrics/vocals.

That means that when I write the lyrics down, I may have been hearing them incorrectly xD Because they never actually give you written lyrics with the samples for some reason! So when I write out the lyrics, it's my interpretation of what I can hear/what I hope they're saying, haha.

With vocal samples, sometimes I use them in their entirety, and sometimes I chop em up in order to create new lyrics from a mixture of vocal samples :3

I've almost always edited them in some way, usually in pitch and tempo to fit the backing tracks I've made. The artists who contribute their voices to vocal sample packs almost always seem to remain anonymous for some reason, but I'm glad that they exist since it allows me to make some vocal tracks for my projects :D

Sorry for the random side ramble there anyhow x3

If you happen to listen to anything on Spotify or YouTube, The Hostage's OST is out on both platforms now too!

You can find it here on Spotify:
https://open.spotify.com/album/3sV1xpgdavix7ocSvcUFGo?si=h-l2bNhDRSOrL8p5U_o1YA

The lyrics should be displayed here alongside the tracks cos I did fill them in, but I've never tested it to see if it actually works >.<

Here on YouTube Music:

Or here for the original uploaded videos just on regular YouTube:
https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLmN3maR28k-WVbLgwV1XQ4wY09z7QlqZt

With the original YouTube videos, I think I time-synced the written lyrics to the music using the caption system on there, so you ever wanted to listen along with the lyrics displayed live if that's more helpful, then hopefully that function still works!

In order, the tracks with lyrics are as follows:

D&D (kill me slowly mix)

"I will perish by your side
Ra-ta-ta-ta in the dark
I'm in danger, it's my fight
Kill me slowly with your love
DIE!"

D&D (lullaby mix)

"How long, how long?
How long can this go for?
Can this go for...
How long, how long?
How long?
How long can this go for?
Can this go for..."

D&D (hide and seek mix)

"Hide and seek
I know you'll find me first
Don't call me weak cos I still haven't lost
Hide and seek
I know you'll find me first
Don't call me weak cos I still haven't lost

Hide and seek
I know you'll find me first
Don't call me weak cos I still haven't lost
Hide and seek
I know you'll find me first
Don't call me weak cos I still haven't lost

You end up dancing in my head
I can't forget the things you said
You hold me tight
I feel like I'm hostage
But I'm okay I need no absence

(Hide and seek)
Part of me wonders what is next
(Don't call me weak)
I want you to be closer
I need no space
(Hide and seek)
What you gonna do?
(Don't call me weak)
Tell me, what's your move?
Cos I still haven't lost!

D&D (popcorn mix)

"You're fading to black
Crawling, panic attacks
I don't wanna lose you
Feel every moment
Hold me 'til you can't
Don't hear what they say
Until our eyes open I want you to feel
Every time I'm on the edge of losing you
Just trust me, let me love the way I do

Cos I don't wanna give you up and let you down
But help me find a way out
I don't wanna give you up and let you down
Give you up
Give you up
I don't wanna give you up..."

I did a small review on Tumblr (here), but essentially called the game ‘abduction ASMR’ lol. Between the voice acting and the sound design, it was really immersive to just be able to focus on the story and music and make wild guesses on what was going on (ranging from “we're probably like dueling supernatural beings” to “he's a…parasite in my head?” to “oh shit what if -I’M- the brainworm?!?” which was I guess kinda close to what you mentioned in the rambling extras lol).

And this post was how I knew it was on Spotify! I’ve been listening to it there mostly, but there weren’t lyrics offered for the songs. I see them definitely there in the YouTube versions, though! And that’s cool! I love music as much as other artistic media (art and writing), and am always fascinated at the process of creating stuff. I always assumed people sung their own works but using voice samples make sense too, LOL! Thanks so much for replying!

yay more jams for spotify U^ェ^U

:D Can’t believe it took me so long to get this one up x3 I’ve tweaked some of the Bitter/Sweet tracks to fix some issues that were annoying me, and it’s ready for uploading now… I just have to make the time to actually do it, haha.

that is interesting , keep it up!

Cheers! I will try :3 It's gonna get more difficult to release all the older soundtracks I made before this one because the older the soundtrack, the more issues there are with some of the tracks, haha. This one is far from perfect still, but the older ones are worse >.< They're in dire need of some tweaking and mastering since I had no clue mastering was even a thing back then x3

Even now, I still wouldn't say I know what I'm doing cos I just stumble along trying my best, but I know enough to know that the quality of some of the older OSTs I made isn't ideal xD
